Baths For Colds and Flu

These Recipes Are Amazing and Really Help Speed Up Recovery!


AVOID Baths For Colds and Flu Recipes if Pregnant, Heart Trouble, High Blood Pressure, or are Diabetic.

Drink Plenty of Water!

Baths can be a great treatment for flu and should be included in combination with your other flu treatment.

Salts - Helps your body to eliminate toxins. There are a variety of salts and benefits they offer, for more information read Types of Salt.  

Baking Soda - Baking soda helps neutralize skin acidity and promotes elimination of toxins.  Side benefit, soaking in baking soda can help refresh, renew and soften your dry skin.

What was not covered is....the benefits of Ginger which we're going to add to Baths For Colds and Flu.

Ginger - Ginger is anti-inflammatory and helps increase blood circulation and induces sweating which promotes detoxing!  It also has antiviral and antibacterial properties.  Also inhaling the vapors (steam) will help as a decongestant.

 


Ginger Bath Recipes
for
colds and flu



Ginger Bath

You can use either fresh grated ginger or ginger powder.

Add about 2 - 3 Tablespoons of Freshly Grated Ginger to a pan of water (approx a quart) and allow to simmer for 30 minutes before adding to your bath OR add 3-4 Tablespoons of Ginger Powder to your hot water running bath and hand stir.

Soak 20 - 40 minutes.

Note: Drink plenty of water before, during and after your bath.  A ginger bath will make you sweat profusely for 1-2 hours afterward.   It's a great flu treatment - You'll want to wear a robe or wrap yourself in a sheet and it's best to go to bed and let it keep working its magic! 

Also keep in mind, same as the Detox Baths you may feel light head and weak. 

This is part of the detoxing process - it's a good thing!  


Ginger Epsom Salt Bath

1 Cup of Epsom Salt
1/2 c Baking Soda

4 T Ground Ginger

Optional:

Essential Oils of  choice (Recommended Lavender, Geranium, Lemongrass, Lemon, Grapefruit and Juniper)

Lavender Essential Oil 15 ml 100% Pure Oil Geranium Essential Oil 15 ml 100% Pure Oil Lemongrass Essential Oil 15 ml 100% Pure Oil Grapefruit Pink Essential Oil 15 ml 100% Pure OilJuniper Berry Himalayan Essential Oil 15 ml 100% Pure Oil

Directions:

Add all ingredients to your running hot bath (except for the essential oils) Add the essential oils and give a hand stir. 

Soak 20-40 Minutes


 Lemon Eucalyptus

     The eucalyptus and lemon make this a great bath if you have a cold

1 Cup of Pink Himalayan or Epsom    Salt

2 drops of eucalyptus essential oil

2 drops of lemon oil

4 drops of peppermint (or any mint) essential oil - this is optional if you want to make your bath invigorating

Evening Baths - Baths for Colds and Flu like Detox baths, can make you feel tired and even flu like symptoms because your body is detoxing.  Drink a glass of water after your bath and best to call it a night.  Do not rinse off, you want to retain the minerals and nutrients from the water that is absorbed through your skin.

Don't Forget To - Enjoy a big glass of cold with your bath.   It's also a great time to meditate, read a book, listen to music, whatever makes your bath more enjoyable and relaxing.  

When we start feeling sick, this is the best time to kick it in gear.  Removing the toxins is the absolute best thing you can do.  These baths are extremely helpful but of course, there's other things you can do as well.  

It's the time to drink a lot of water, stay away from desserts, dairy products and get plenty of sleep.

Of course, consult your Doctor if you feel the need.
