First of all, it helps to understand the basic ingredients and what qualities they offer, these ingredients are the most common in my recipes. Again, I recommend keeping them in stock.
BAKING SODA – Deodorizes, safe abrasive to scrub bathroom soap scum or kitchen grease.
Also works as a
stain remover on surfaces and dishes. Great for cleaning silver and more!
If you have a Costco near you, they sell large bags of it as well.
BORAX – Disinfects and deodorizes. (you can find it by detergent in most all stores)
Can be used in place of scouring powder for bathrooms (including toilets) sinks, counter tops and floors.
It also works well to remove laundry stains and boost detergent.
VINEGAR – Mildly acidic white vinegar dissolves dirt, soap scum, and hard water deposits from smooth surfaces and the soap scum and hard water stains on your fixtures.
Yet, it is gentle enough to use in a solution to clean hardwood flooring and your stainless steel.
Also works as a deodorizer and fabric softener.
that improperly diluted vinegar is acidic and can eat away at tile grout and should not be used on marble surfaces as well.

You'll enjoy having a clean, toxic free home. You'll enjoy saving money on expensive cleaners and you'll feel good knowing you are not sending chemicals down the drain and in to the environment.
Speaking of sending chemicals down the drain.....did you know the chemicals we use eventually end up in our local waterways? There are many chemicals that pose a threat to our water quality, fish and wildlife.
The U.S. Geological Surveys reports detergent metabolites and disinfectants threatens the life and quality of fish in streams nationwide along with various other household chemicals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, etc.
One of the biggest culprits in ocean pollution is phosphates, common in laundry detergents and some cleaning products. The average consumer nationwide uses about 30 pounds of laundry detergent a year. All of this is wreaking havoc and harm to our ecosystem balance.
