2. Avoid commercial detergents, we’ve already covered the dangers found in these detergents. See Homemade Detergent
for babies (Dreft) contain Propylene Glycol , Ethyl Alcohol, Sodium Hydroxide,
Calcium Formate and perfumes.
3. Avoid commercial body care, the baby soaps, shampoos, lotions, oils, powders….all are full of a variety of dangerous chemicals. (See links at bottom of page to make your own)
Ex. Baby oil IS mineral oil, what is mineral oil? It's a petroleum by-product that coats the skin, clogging the pores and inhibits the skins natural ability to absorb oxygen and discharge carbon dioxide as a natural purification.
Frank Lipman states, ....the inhalation of significant amounts of powder, causing acute or chronic lung irritation, known as talcosis.
risk is readily avoidable as cornstarch powder or arrow root is a safe and reliable
alternative, Mommy help really is simple tweaking using remedies!
Also, in a 1992 publication in Obstetrics & Gynecology they reported that a woman’s frequent talc use on her genitals increased her risk of ovarian cancer by threefold.
The talc in question was simple brand or generic ‘baby powder,’ isn't that where Mom's are dusting their babies?!?!?
4. Avoid Antibacterial soaps which contain pesticides and inhibits their bodies from building a strong immune system. See Antibacterial Soap
Nothing is needed, it doesn’t kill virus anyway!!
5. Avoid ALL
commercial air fresheners, Febreeze, plug- ins, sprays, candles & potpourri
and anything else I’ve missed, all full of dangerous chemicals that create
numerous health concerns including the sharp rise in childhood asthma. See Indoor Air Pollution
Again, we have some easy and fun alternatives. See Homemade Air Fresheners
6. Avoid Pesticides, buy organic. Dangerous chemicals are absorbed throughout the fruits/vegetables, you can’t wash it all off. (proof is in the seeds, full of pesticides) See Dangers of Pesticides
7. Eliminate the use of your microwave oven. It changes the healthy absorption of your food to a foreign substances in your body, destroying vitamins and minerals. Toaster ovens work great!!
See Microwave Ovens
8. Think about cloth or natural diapers. Disposable diapers contain dangerous chemicals – dioxin, sodium polyacrylate (banned in 1985 from tampons causing Toxic Shock Syndrome) and TBT.
You can read more about it at Dangerous Baby Products
9. Eliminate dangerous plastics. Plastics with an SPI code of 2, 4 or 5 and avoid toys with PVC. Again, you can read more at Dangerous Baby Products
10. Become more
familiar with alternative medicines and investigate medication/immunizations
before giving to your baby. There are huge ramifications!
11. While pregnant and on your little girls, don’t use nail polish.
Chemicals toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and formaldehyde are found in some brands, even ones that claim they don’t contain these chemicals.
These chemicals can cause birth defects, asthma and other developmental problems. (polish removers are dangerous as well!!)
12. Avoid electronics producing EMFs in your babies room. (like a wireless router)
When not in
use, turn off your computers and electronics that are filling your home with
radiation. It's a lot for a little body to deal with a wireless home filled with EMFs. See EMF Shielding
I hope Mommy Help has given you some healthy insight, I hope you have some Mommy Help thoughts and tips yourself....I'd actually love to hear them!!
It's not easy living healthy in a toxic world but we really need to try, especially for the sake of our little ones.
I know you love your baby so take the time to learn how to protect your little one and know you're not alone, Mommy help is here!
Read on for an illustration of the typical day in the life of a little one and don't forget to visit the links at the bottom for more helpful idea.
Let's look at a typical day in the life of a little one to illustrate my concerns.
Mom's get their babies up in the morning and change their disposable diaper that is full of chemicals.
Then they warm their formula which is mostly sugar and oils in a dangerous plastic bottle in the microwave.
Microwaves destroys what little benefits there is in the milk and adds the toxins from the bottle.
Then they take a bath and get all lotion up (or powdered) with more toxic chemicals.
They get to play with their plastic toys that have more chemicals like phthalates in them (the ones banned from other countries that causes cancer and screws up their hormones-aka gender benders).
Then we put them down for a nap in their room with an artificial asthma causing room deodorizer.
Of course, their
bedding with more chemicals from the detergent. sigh.
I hate writing this!! It’s so negative and nasty but sorry, unless you’re doing things differently, it’s true.
I could write pages about each chemical and each and every detail on products but I know you don’t really want to spend hours and hours reading.
I would like to encourage you to Google any of the information contained on this site that you may want to know more about or perhaps, have a hard time believing.
It’s important we all take personal responsibility for what we buy, what we eat and what we use.
It really comes down to, we’re the only ones
we can really count on to take care of ourselves and family. (and your the only one your baby has!)
I hope to make you confident as a Mom, making good choices for your little ones. In addition to following tips for moms, I also hope you completely enjoy Motherhood.
Play with your kids, let them get dirty, read to them, sing, dance, laugh and as they get older.....let them help you make these Home Remedies and teach them about living, Pure & Simple.
